Poetry by Tom: Push
Push
Doors are like opportunities, you have to push through to take it.
Don’t sit back and give up.
Keep pushing, with power and passion and pride
Keep pushing like getting a couch up a staircase
Keep pushing like mothers in hospitals and fathers in stalls.
Keep pushing until you notice the door is marked pull.
Push so hard you explode through the door,
like a Slender Schwarzenegger.
While the Barista’s scream, clean the glass out of your wounds and say,
“That door was an opportunity, I just took it. Now I’ll take a Venti Hot Coffee.”
And when she says, “You shattered our door, We’re calling the cops.”
You say, “Well, then I’m taking my business to Dunkin Doughnuts, where they don’t pretend to understand originality!”
